At Lightning Safety Solutions, we install discreet, code-compliant lightning protection systems designed to preserve the look of your home. Our systems are carefully planned to follow UL 96A, NFPA 780, and LPI-175 standards and are so well integrated that unless you're specifically looking for them, you likely wouldn’t even notice they’re there.
You’ll find examples in this portfolio from homes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including recent projects in places like Southlake, Frisco, and McKinney, as well as neighborhoods throughout Flower Mound, Aledo, Carrollton, and University Park. Whether it's a shingle roof in Argyle, a steep metal roof in Allen, or a sprawling ranch home outside Graham or Kaufman, each system is customized to blend with your structure while delivering full lightning protection.
We work with all roof types, including shingle, tile, and metal. We always aim to minimize visual impact. Even with exposed lightning protection systems, which are standard for retrofitting existing homes, our installations remain clean, unobtrusive, and aligned with the architecture of each property.
For homeowners building new construction, we also offer concealed lightning protection systems, installed beneath the roof materials during the building process for a completely hidden finish. Regardless of the style or size of the home, every system is engineered for long-term performance and tailored aesthetics.
And when it comes to HOAs, there’s typically no approval required. Lightning protection systems are considered life safety upgrades and generally fall outside architectural control restrictions. If needed, we’re happy to provide documentation to support your project.

Metal Roofs
Lightning protection systems on metal roofs require specialized design to ensure both performance and appearance. We carefully route air terminals, bonding, and down conductors to follow the clean lines of standing seam and corrugated panels, minimizing visibility while maintaining full code compliance. These installations are ideal for both modern and rural homes, offering strong protection with subtle execution.
Composition Shingle Roofs
Composition shingle roofs are among the most common roofing materials across Texas, and our team is highly experienced in installing lightning protection systems that blend into them. We use copper components, low-profile air terminals, and smart routing along ridgelines and valleys to deliver protection that’s virtually unnoticeable from the ground, but fully compliant with UL 96A, NFPA 780, and LPI-175 standards.

Our HOA has strict architectural guidelines, so we were concerned about getting approval. The LSS team provided all the specs and documentation we needed, and even helped us communicate with the HOA board. It couldn’t have gone smoother. The system looks great and you can barely tell it’s there.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lightning Protection & Appearance
See a full list of Frequently Asked Questions about Lightning Protection & Surge Protection on our FAQ Page.
Will a lightning protection system change the look of my home?
Not noticeably. Our systems are designed to be as discreet as possible, with air terminals and cabling that follow the roofline and blend with the structure. Unless you know what to look for, you likely wouldn’t even see the system from the ground.
What’s the difference between exposed and concealed lightning protection systems?
- Exposed systems are installed on top of the roof and are ideal for existing homes. They’re fully compliant, cost-effective, and visually minimal.
- Concealed systems are built into the roof during new construction, offering a completely hidden look. Both options offer equal protection when installed correctly.
Can you install lightning protection on an existing home?
Yes, the majority of our residential projects are retrofits. We design exposed systems specifically to suit your roof type and layout while preserving your home’s appearance.
Will my HOA need to approve the lightning protection system?
In most cases, no. Lightning protection is considered a life safety system and is typically exempt from HOA architectural restrictions. If approval is needed, we’re happy to assist with documentation and photos. Most of the time, they approve with a copy of your quote and a link to this portfolio.
How long does installation take?
Most residential systems are installed in 1–2 days, depending on roof complexity. We work efficiently and cleanly, with minimal disruption to your home or schedule.
